So this book was OK.. I gave it 2 stars because of the fact I could tell a female wrote it. I have read many urban fiction books by women but this one took the cake of female tone. Some of the things she had the men say or think was female based. "Shawnie" as a guy name was too feminine.. however, the level of toxic & back & forth with cheating accusations was overkill. Again, you can tell a woman was the writer. There was no true character development to understand each character personality just basically everyone was grown & experienced heart break or cheating. I wanted to like it but I don't even think I can do book 2 because it just wasn't hitting the mark. Also, I could tell they were very young mentally in the flow of this book as well. I got to 20% and just had to let it go, between the errors and the immaturity I just can’t. I already don’t like Jaya she seems really dumb to me and I haven’t even gotten far in the story. Like why are you not out looking for work to get yourself together? U talking about how small your cousin apt is, but you homeless. Shawnie is such a female name and I hate it for a male character. He was rude, ignorant, and really not a likable character. I was really excited to read the story due to him leaving the streets alone, but i don’t even like his character. Why did keisha not leave and go home, why did she even go to his house? Then he leaves out his room from having sex with another woman and take a ride with keisha, but he didn’t even wash up or nothing. Like I feel like a teenager wrote this book. I just can’t go through with it.
